HYDERABAD: The Congress has sought to advise the ruling TRS that distribution of land to the poor would be a fitting tribute to the former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao whose year-long birth centenary is being celebrated by the Telangana government.
Referring to chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s plans of inviting former US presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton and British ex-prime minister John Major for a programme to be organised in honour of Late PV Narasimha Rao, All India Congress Committee secretary and former MP V Hanumanth Rao said the real tribute to the great leader and icon of Telangana is to follow his ideals.

“PV Narasimha Rao introduced land reforms in the undivided Andhra Pradesh and also convinced the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to do so in the country. But the TRS government is snatching away the lands of the poor,” said Hanumanth rao while citing the case of a farmer who committed suicide in Gajwel Assembly Constituency recently.
The Congress veteran demanded that KCR should look into the issue of land records problem being faced by the farmers and distribute land to the landless poor especially among the SCs, STs, minorities and BCs.
