Police have completed probe into the Shine Hospital incident and are ready to file chargesheet
HYDERABAD: As many as eight lives have been lost in three major and one minor fire accidents which have occurred in four major hospitals in Telangana in the last ten years. The latest incident occurred in October 2019 at Shine Children's Hospital in LB Nagar.
An infant died while four other children were injured in the incident. Rachakonda police have completed investigation and will soon be filing a charge sheet.
It is learnt that the fire department and civic authorities gave adverse reports, alleging that the hospital had flouted the mandatory safety norms.
The Shine Hospital accident took place a decade after a major fire accident killed five persons at a private hospital in Somajiguda.
A few years back, the accused in the 2010 incident were convicted by a local court.
Following this incident, the fire department conducted several inspections and noticed that a number of hospitals were not following the fire safety standards.
Despite strict vigilance and tightening of norms another mishap occurred at a private hospital leading to the death of two persons. Later, two accidents were reported in Hyderabad, with the latest at Shine Hospital last year.
"In the Shine Hospital incident, we have gathered all requisite reports certifying the negligence of the hospital management. We are keen on filing a strong charge sheet so that the accused will be convicted,'' LB Nagar police told TOI. Five persons were arrested in connection with the incident.
