HYDERABAD: Burglars broke into a cell phone shop at Uppal in Telangana capital Hyderabad during the early hours of Wednesday and escaped with cell phones worth Rs 2 lakh.
The incident took place at Touch Mobiles shop in Uppal. On Wednesday morning, Asghar Ali, 29, store manager, lodged a complaint with Uppal police alleging that unknown persons committed theft of cell phones from the shop.
"Part of the shop is still under construction.
The burglars entered the open portion of the under-construction area and then dug a hole into the store," Uppal inspector Ch N Ranga Swamy said.
The offenders turned off the power supply to Digital Video Recorder (DVR) of CCTV cameras and stole cell phones along with some cash and other electronic equipment from the shop, police said.
"The incident happened at around 3.30am and the recorded CCTV visuals are not very clear due to low light. We have asked the shop owner to furnish details of stolen cell phones with IMEI numbers and invoices. We estimated that items worth Rs 2 lakh have been stolen," the inspector said.
A case was registered under sections 457 and 380 of the IPC.
