HYDERABAD: Modelled on the lines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Namami Gange’ to conserve and rejuvenate river Ganga, Telangana
BJP on Saturday kicked off
‘Namami Musi’ campaign. Party president K Laxman launched the campaign and said they would continue the programme till the TRS government takes measures to protect the Musi and rid the river of pollutants.
Laxman launched the programme by performing a puja at Anantagiri in Vikarabad district where the river originates.
The Telangana high court has recently expressed its displeasure over the condition of Musi river and directed the state government to come up with an action plan within four weeks.
Laxman appealed to people to keep the river clean, which is also known as ‘Telangana Ganga.’ “There is a need to inculcate spirit of Modi who launched the project to clean the sacred Ganga,” he said. Laxman said CM K Chandrasekhar Rao did not keep his word of keeping Musi river clean and green. “We will continue the agitation till the government cleans the Musi which flows through five districts,” he said.
