HYDERABAD: A 35-year-old software employee who returned to his village in Telangana from Chennai where he was employed has tested positive for Covid-19. Health authorities in Malkapur village of Veenavanka mandal in Huzurabad in Karimnagar have taken up a door-to-door health survey after the software employee tested positive.
On his return to Hyderabad from Chennai, he underwent thermal screening and was sent home asking that he be in home quarantine.
In two days, he developed fever and then tested positive for Covid-19. He and his three other family members have been sent to an isolation centre by the authorities.
In Gandhinagar of Huzurabad, a couple and another person close to them has tested positive. The local health authorities have sent the man to Gandhi hospital in Secunderabad and the wife to a isolation centre in Karimnagar. Their 61 primary contacts have been identified and they have been placed under home quarantine. Local health authorities took up screening in the locality and did thermal screening of 838 residents in 225 houses.
A 26-year-old woman from Chittapur village in Mallapur of Korutla tested positive after she paid a visit to Hyderabad for a gall bladder problem check-up. She had visited a private hospital on June 8. She and all her primary contacts have been placed under home quarantine. Screening is also being taken up in the village.
Meanwhile, in Ranga Reddy district authorities have increased surveillance as cases are increasing in different localities. The cases have increased after lockdown relaxations as the figures show. While there were 300 positive cases up to June 2, after that the number increased to 473 by June 14. That is, in just 12 days as many as 173 cases were reported.
Along with five districts, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday announced that even in Ranga Reddy district Covid-19 tests would be conducted.
In all, 50,000 tests are planned in 30 assembly constituencies in the next 10 days.
