Telangana government appoints wife of martyred Col Santosh Babu as deputy collector

The Telangana government on Wednesday appointed Santoshi, wife of Col Santosh Babu, who martyred in the recent clashes on the Indo-China Border, as deputy collector. Chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao handed over the appointment letter to Santoshi at Pragati Bhavan.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government on Wednesday appointed Santoshi, wife of Col Santosh Babu, who was martyred in the recent clashes on the Indo-China Border, as deputy collector. Chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao handed over the appointment letter to Santoshi at Pragati Bhavan.
The CM instructed officials to post Santoshi in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas. He also asked his secretary Smita Sabharwal to help Santoshi till she received proper training and settled down in her job.
Prior to that, the CM had lunch with 20 of the family members of Santoshi, who accompanied her to Pragathi Bhavan.
He had enquired about their well-being and assured that the government would always stand by Col Santosh Babu’s family. The chief minister announced a house site in Hyderabad, Rs 5 crore ex gratia to the family apart from a government job to the Col Santosh Babu’s family. She initially opted for commercial tax officer and later changed her mind and sought deputy collector job in Group I cadre, which was accepted by the state government.
Ministers Jagdeesh Reddy, V Prashanth Reddy, S Niranjan Reddy, MP from united Nalgonda district Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, MLAs Gyaderi Kishore, Bollam Mallaiah Yadav, Chirumarthi Lingaiah, Saidireddy, Zilla Parishad chairperson Deepika Yugandhar Rao, chief secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP M Mahender Reddy, chief advisor Rajiv Sharma and others were present.
