Telangana too will pass resolution against CAA in assembly

HYDERABAD: The state cabinet led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday appealed to the Union government not to discriminate on the basis of religion for according Indian citizenship. The cabinet has decided to pass a resolution against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 (CAA) in the Assembly on the lines of Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Puducherry assemblies.
The cabinet requested that all religions be treated equally.
The cabinet further requested the central government to take measures to abrogate CAA, which it said jeopardises India's secular polity as envisaged in the Constitution.
The six-and-half hour long marathon cabinet meeting held on the eve of KCR's 66th birthday also decided to sell away Rajiv Swagurha houses through an open auction process and raise money. The chief minister along with his council of ministers also decided to thoroughly review the schemes of Abhaya hastham, Bangaru Talli and Vaddileni Runalu before taking a call. Some of these schemes were started by the previous Congress government in undivided Andhra Pradesh.
The cabinet took a decision to sell houses of Rajiv Swagruha in open auction. To work out the modalities a three-member committee headed by housing special chief secretary Chitra Ramchandran, principal secretary (finance) Rama Krishna Rao and MA&UD principal secretary Arvind Kumar has been constituted. Abhaya Hastham Scheme would be reviewed by finance minister Harish Rao and panchayat raj secretary Sandeep Sultania.
Cabinet also approved the ordinance on Lokayukta and decided to introduce the bill in the budget session of Assembly.
The cabinet meeting discussed at length Pattana Pragathi programme and decided to implement it on the lines of Palle Pragathi for 10 days from February 24 in all the towns and cities in Telangana. The government will release Rs 811 crore for development work in urban areas.
