HYDERABAD: Four months ahead of
Ganesh Chaturthi (August 22), work on building
jumbo Khairatabad Ganesha will begin from May 18 at Khairatabad pandal in Hyderabad. There was much speculation over the making of city's tallest Khairatabad Ganesha idol, due to cases of
Covid-19, still registering in Hyderabad and across
Telangana. However,
Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav
Committee on Monday announced officially regarding the preparation of gigantic Ganesha idol.
The Utsav Committee chairman, S Sudarshan also told TOI, that this year, the committee has decided to build 66-foot height Ganesha idol, on the occasion of completing 66 years for installing Ganesh idol. He also said that works (called Karra Pooja) for preparing this jumbo idol will begin from May 18, and will continue till August third week. On August 22, on the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, the idol threw open for devotees.
Replying to a query about controlling of lakhs of devotees thronged to visit the mega Ganesha idol, Sudarshan said, "All measures will be taken to maintain
social distance at the time of visiting the Ganesh idol during 11 days."
Apart from this, special arrangements will be also made for sanitation too. If possible, we will arrange sanitization chambers at the pandal, for the safety and health point of the devotees, said Committee president.
Nearly 30 skilled artisans from Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Telangana and
Andhra Pradesh States will take part in preparation of tallest Ganesh idol.
