JAIPUR: In one of the biggest drives against narcotics, city police seized 1,000 kg of marijuana worth around Rs 2 crore which was being transported in a mini truck and arrested five persons. All the arrests were made on Tuesday. While two — Chandan Kumar and Munnu Kumar Yadav — were held for transporting the narcotics, three persons, all residents of Nagaur, were picked up as they were supposed to receive the consignment.
Additional commissioner (crime) Ashok Gupta said the accused had a deal of selling it for Rs 40 lakh to their clients.

Police came to know that the accused were getting supplies from Manipur, Bengal and Odisha. While carrying out investigations, police found that Tulsi Ram, Om Prakash and Subhash Meena, all residents of Nagaur, were involved in supplying drugs in Jaipur and western Rajasthan. Following a tip-off that the drug smugglers were planning to supply marijuana in Nagaur, the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) teams on Tuesday kept a close eye on toll plazas on Agra-Jaipur highway.
They also kept tabs on vehicles on highways in Dausa, Manoharpura, Kaithun, Bagru and Sikar road. Finally, the police managed to arrest Kumar and Munnu, residents of Kaimganj in UP and Buxar in Bihar, respectively.
