JAIPUR: A woman registered a gang-rape case at Bagru police station on December 5 alleging that she was violated by at least two men on November 28. The woman, who is in her 20s, is a dancer and one of the accused was known to her.
“The woman alleged that the accused had taken her to perform at an event in Nagaur and on reaching there, they claimed that the event was cancelled.
While returning, they stopped at a hotel after crossing the Kishangarh toll plaza where all had dinner. The woman claimed after dinner, the two accused raped her in a room in the same hotel,” said a police officer.
Police have not arrested anyone yet and claimed that the complainant has not been able to identify the crime spot. “There are few things which are causing problems in the investigation. First, the woman has not been able to give any valid reason as to why she waited so long to file a case. Second, we sent teams with her to identify the hotel where she was raped but she was unable to. We do not have any crime scene which is creating a hindrance in the investigation. However, we are investigating and will move forward as the facts become clear to us.”
The woman’s medical examination was done within 24 hours of the case being lodged under relevant IPC sections.
(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
