Rajasthan: Man strangles wife, son, ends life in Bikaner district

JAIPUR: A man strangled his wife and son before committing suicide in Bikaner’s Kolayat police station area late on Thursday night.
Cops found no suicide note but initial investigation suggested that the couple were having a marital dispute because of which the accused killed his own family.
The deceased family hailed from Bhelu village and were identified as Hetmaram Nayak (35) who killed his wife Raju Devi (28) and son Ranjit (6).
Vikash Bishnoi, SHO, Kolayat police said, “On late Thursday night, Hetmaram strangled his wife and then son before killing self. The reason is still unclear but it appears that he and his wife were having a dispute for past one year because of which he took this step.”
The accused worked as craftsman and was said to be an alcoholic. He hung himself after killing his family
“He used to drink heavily and, in all likelihood, killed his family and committed suicide when still in an intoxicated state. We are questioning the extended family to find any other possible reasons that could have led to this tragedy. We are also trying to find if on the night of the incident if the couple quarrelled or if it was a pre-mediated crime. The other family members have not been able to tell us anything to shed light on the case but the investigation is underway”, added the SHO.
Police did not find any suicide note and the SHO said, “Till now, we have not found any suicide note anywhere in the house. Financial stress is another possibility but at present it cannot be confirmed. There are various aspects which need to be covered before anything can be said with certainty. Investigation is still at an initial stage.”
The post-mortem was done on Friday and bodies handed over to the family.
