Rajasthan: One held for looting tobacco, pan masala worth Rs 20 lakh from truck

JAISALMER: Police arrested an accused in the case of robbery of paan masala and tobacco worth Rs 20 lakh from a truck under Pachpadra police station area on November 16. Search is underway to nab other accused in the matter.
Barmer SP Sharad Choudhary said that unidentified culprits on November 16 stopped and robbed a truck carrying paan masala and tobacco worth Rs 20 lakh near Sarhad Kudi and that police have succeeded in arresting one of the accused.

He said that Tanwarpal Singh, a resident of Nathawstpura, gave a report at Pachpadra police station that paan masala and tobacco worth Rs 20 lakh were stolen from the truck going from Jodhpur to Balotara, when six youths in a car stopped the truck near Kudi village and tying ribbon on his eyes, looted the contents of the truck and also fled with cash worth Rs 2,700 and his mobile phone. They later dropped him at the same place with the empty truck.
Pachpadra SHO started the investigation and nabbed one of the suspects Ladhuram, a resident of Godawas Kalla under Kalyanpur police station and during inquiry, he confessed to have committed the crime. Ladhuram took away the truck to Meghwal ki Dhani where he and Budharam emptied the truck and brought back the empty truck to same place. Shivpal and others tied his eyes and mouth and kept him moving in a car and later, they left him back on the highway and fled. Police arrested Ladhuram and produced him before the judicial magistrate at Pachpadra court. Search is on for other accused in the matter.
