JAIPUR: As the filing of nominations to elect the ward members to the 49 urban local bodies across the state begins on Friday, the candidates, along with other documents, shall also have to submit an affidavit stating that his/her house possesses a "clean or functional toilet", failing which his/her nomination papers could be rejected.
State election commissioner P S Mehra said that nomination papers could be submitted between 10.30am and 3pm.

He also informed that among other documents that are required to be submitted along with his/her nomination papers are conviction details, child-related information, statistical information and property affidavit (Annexure-1). "The nomination papers can be rejected if any of the criteria is not fulfilled or if any of the documents is not submitted," he said.
Ashok Kumar Jain, deputy secretary, said that this was included in the election rules during the 2014 polls that the candidates are required to submit an affidavit stating that his/her house has a "clean or functional toilet".
The last date of filing of nomination papers is November 5 and the polling will be held on November 16 from 7am to 5pm. The results will be declared on November 19. The nomination papers will be examined on November 6, while candidates will be able to withdraw their names till November 8.
