JAIPUR: A thirty-one-year-old woman found dead at a guest house in Sanganer on Saturday who had checked in with a 22-year-old man two days ago. The victim has been identified as Pooja Kanjar, a resident of Dooni in Tonk district.
Kanjar’s father rushed to Jaipur after being informed by police about his daughter’s murder. On the basis of her father’s complaint, the police registered an FIR against one Ramkalyan Gurjar under Section 302 of IPC for murder.
Assistant commissioner of police (Sanganer) Poonam Chand Vishnoi said it looked like the accused strangled her with her dupatta.
She was found lying in the bed with dupatta tied around her neck. However, the cause of death will be ascertained after post-mortem. Both belonged to Tonk and knew each other for quite some time. However, they were not married. Gurjar left the guest house early morning and a search has been made to nab him, Vishnoi said. The police have also collected the photocopy of ID cards which they submitted to the guest house before checking in.
Guest house owner Rajendra Gujjar told TOI that they told the guest house staff that they were married and submitted their IDs to get the room on Thursday evening. “It did not look like that they had differences between them. But, we do not know what happened inside the room,” said Gujjar.
Gujjar said that on Friday morning, they left the room and told the staff that they would return in the evening asking them to keep the room reserved for them.
“They returned on Friday evening as they told the staff. But, the boy left the guest house at around 4.30 am. When our staff went to switch off the lights at around 5 am, he found that the door of the room was open and the girl was lying in the bed and the man had already left. He informed me and I immediately called the police,” said Gujjar.
