JAIPUR: Following a complaint by a 17-year-old girl, a team of Taranagar police station in Churu on Sunday arrested her 20-year-old cousin for raping her. The incident is of August, but the girl registered a case only on Friday. The girl claimed that the youth had taken obscene videos of the act and was blackmailing her, due to which she did not inform anyone about the incident.
“The girl has alleged that the accused was visiting her house for a few days and during his stay there, he raped her.
After we received the complaint, we rounded up the accused and formally arrested him. The girl’s medical examination was done, and the report is awaited. We are also questioning the accused,” said a police official of Taranagar police station
The girl apparently told her family after the accused threatened to upload her videos on social media. He was also asking for money repeatedly.
The official added, “In the FIR, the girl had claimed that the accused had been blackmailing her for last few months and had also taken Rs 10,000 from her in return for not circulating the videos. However, till now we have found no evidence of the same. We found no video and evidence that she had given him money. We will question the accused as well to find if he did have any videos of the girl. Till now we have not found anything on his mobile phone, but investigation is underway.”
Cops claimed that the girl told her family recently about the alleged assault following which they filed the complaint. A case under Pocso Act was registered and cops are still corroborating the facts to check the veracity of the allegations.
