Devotees throng city temples, take out Shiv Baraats on Mahashivratri
Kanpur: The festival of Mahashivratri was celebrated with spiritual and traditional gaiety in the city on Friday.
All the temples were beautifully decorated with flowers and colourful lights on the occasions. Huge processions of Shiv Baraat were taken out from various localities of the city .
Elaborate security arrangements were made with deployment of heavy police force across the city, Besides, the traffic was also restricted on the routes leading to prominent Shiva temples on the day.
Devotees started thronging the temples to offer prayers to the lord from early morning hours. Long queues of people could be seen infront of the famous Parmat temple and Siddhanath temple in Jajmau.
DM Dr Brahm Dev Ram Tiwari also reached Parmat temple to offer prayers on the occasion. He also engaged in cleaning of the temple premises and asked the devotees arriving there to keep public places clean and tidy. He also took stock of security arrangements at Parmat.
Huge rush was also seen at Pawan Dham Dev Lok in Saket Nagar, Van Khandeshwar at P Road. Many devotees also observed fasts on the day. Special aartis and Rudrabhisheks were prformed at temples.
On Friday evening, Art of Living conducted ‘Maha Rudrabhishek’ and ‘Mahasatsang’ at Merchants’ Chamber of Uttar Pradesh.
