UP: Where’s Vikas Dubey? Vigil at Unnao, Lakhimpur Kheri

A high alert has been sounded along districts bordering Nepal to stop the elusive gangster Vikas Dubey from fleeing the country. Twenty-five teams comprising 2,000 policemen have been formed to hunt him down. Police have zeroed in two areas where the don may be holed up amidst speculation that he would surrender soon.

KANPUR/LUCKNOW: A high alert has been sounded along districts bordering Nepal to stop the elusive gangster Vikas Dubey from fleeing the country. Twenty-five teams comprising 2,000 policemen have been formed to hunt him down. Police have zeroed in two areas where the don may be holed up amidst speculation that he would surrender soon. Lakhimpur Kheri which enjoys a porous border with Nepal and Brahmin pockets in Unnao are under vigil.

A senior police official in Unnao clarified there was no specific intelligence input about the gangster’s surrender, but security was beefed up in the local court for the surrender of an accused in the journalist Shivam’s murder. The accused, who may be hiding in Shuklaganj area of Unnao, was scheduled to surrender on Saturday, police said.
A police team raided at least 30 houses of Dubey’s relatives and family members.
A Special Task Force team is camping in Kanpur and is in touch with police in adjoining states of Uttar Pradesh.
