LUCKNOW: Lucknow was the fourth most polluted city in the country on Friday according to the data released by the Central Pollution Control Board.
Air quality continued to be 'very poor' for the second consecutive day with AQI at 342. A fall in pollution level by 24 units compared to Thursday did not bring any relief from poor air.

CPCB conducted live air quality monitoring at four locations: Talkatora, Lalbagh, Gomtinagar and Aliganj.
PM2.5 concentration was found to be more than four times the permissible limit. With PM2.5 concentration of 295 micrograms per cubic metre of air, Talkatora had the worst air quality. This was followed by Aliganj, Lalbagh, Gomtinagar with concentration of 267, 265 and 186.5g/m3, respectively.
Pollution level has been rising in the city since October-end. It reached an all-time high on November 4 with AQI at 435. Environmentalist Venkatesh Dutta said, "The situation will remain the same until immediate measures are not taken to control pollution. Favourable weather conditions like low temperatures, wind velocity and high humidity will make the situation worse in the coming days."
