Purvanchal Expressway will be Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath's Diwali gift to people

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday set Diwali deadline for completion of the 340km-long Purvanchal Expressway that will connect Lucknow with Ghazipur. Yogi made the announcement while conducting an aerial survey and review of the progress of the expressway project in Azamgarh, one of the nine districts through which it will pass.

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday set Diwali deadline for completion of the 340km-long Purvanchal Expressway that will connect Lucknow with Ghazipur. Yogi made the announcement while conducting an aerial survey and review of the progress of the expressway project in Azamgarh, one of the nine districts through which it will pass.
Yogi said the government would dedicate the project to people by Diwali and termed it as one of the most important gifts to the backward districts of east UP.
"The project is being executed as per the time line," he said.

The 6-lane access control expressway is proposed to pass through Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkarnagar, Azamgarh and Mau before culminating at village Haidaria on National Highway 19, around 18km before the UP-Bihar border. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 22,000 crore, including cost of land acquisition.
Yogi said PM Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of Purvanchal Expressway in July 2018 to expedite the development of the region between Varanasi and Gorakhpur.
The CM stressed on better coordination between the construction agencies and administration of the districts through which the expressway will pass.
The CM also reviewed the progress of a proposed university in Azamgarh, the parliamentary constituency of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. He said the government would soon start an air service between Azamgarh and Lucknow and also with New Delhi.
Yogi said his government would take up the problems pertaining to national highways with NHAI and if required he would also write to Union minister for road and surface transport Nitin Gadkari.
