LUCKNOW: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to join the five-day Ganga Yatra, scheduled to start from January 27. The yet-to-be-released official song of the yatra dedicates an entire stanza to him, likening the PM to the mythical king Bhagirath, who it is believed brought Ganga to earth from heaven.
"Manavta ke naye Bhagirath ban kar Modi ji aayein hain, nirmalta ki muhim chalai ghar-ghar khushhali laaye hain, naye Bhagirath ke prati hum aabhar jatane aaye hain," goes the song.

A second official song for the yatra also mentions the PM, along with chief minister Yogi Adityanath, when it says: "Maharani jaisa roop hai (Ganga), teri hi kripa se, Modi-Yogi ka swaroop hai."
"The PM is likely to join the yatra somewhere before Kanpur. However, the date and location is yet to be finalised," said Mrityunjay Kumar, adviser to the CM.
A theme song for the event has also been finalised and will be released soon. The event being held to create awareness about the Namami Gange programme, will also mark completion of CM Yogi's three years in power.
