The police booked eleven persons for open firing on two residents of Raju Khedi village of Patiala district leaving both of them injured and hospitalized at Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala.

PATIALA: The police booked eleven persons for open firing at two residents of Raju Khedi village of Patiala district leaving both of them injured and hospitalized at Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala.
The police claimed that the injured has been identified as Gurchain Singh and Rajinder Singh of Raju Khedi village and the case was registered on the complaint of Gurchain Singh.

The cops revealed that a piece of 'Panchayati Land' became a bone of contention between the complainant working as labourers and the attackers who were landlords in the village.
Gurchain claimed that he and his cousin brother Rajinder had possession over 'One-Bigah' land on the bank of Ghaggar River passing through their Raju Khedi village. He said that they have been tilling the piece of land from the last twenty years whenever the water from Ghaggar River poured downstream and the piece of Panchayati land became vacant or available for tilling.
The police have identified the accused as Jagdeep Singh, Jasdeep Singh, Hardeep Singh, Harjinder Singh, Manpreet Singh, Japinder Singh, Pradeep Singh, Pritpal Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Manpreet Singh, of Raju Khedi village of Julkan block.
Gurpreet Bhinder, station house officer of Julkan police station said, "We have registered the case against all the accused under IPC sections including murderous attempt identified by the complainant. The sections of Arms Act was also added against the accused. We have placed under arrest an accused identified as Hardeep Singh while the raids are being conducted to nab others."
"The complainant and the accused had an old rivalry over Panchayati elections and the accused wanted to get the piece of 'Panchayati Land' free from the possession of Gurchain and Rajinder. On Tuesday, they landed in an altercation over some different issue after which the accused reached the house of Gurchain and Rajinder and attacked them with weapons. The accused opened around six rounds of fire following which one bullet hit Gurchain Singh while two bullets hit Rajinder Singh whereas three others went into the air," the SHO added.
