LUDHIANA: After TOI highlighted the issue of two villagers, who had returned from France via Italy and were waiting for their tests to be done for the past two weeks, the health department finally came into action. On Saturday, the health department had got their tests done.
Even though the sarpanch had informed the police administration about the villagers, however, even after 10 days, nobody approached them for their tests.
Both villagers, aged 40 and 35, had been working in France for many years. While the 35-year-old man returned to India on March 3, the other came back on February 25.
The sarpanch told TOI, “When both returned from Italy, I gave their names and contact details to the Salem Tabri police station, so that officials of the health department could get them tested. But so far, nobody has come for their screening. Both of them seem healthy though.”
The sarpanch further said, “After the news, the team of health department had approached us. They have taken tests of both villagers. The officials have verbally told that both villagers have no symptoms of corona virus.”
Assistant commissioner of police (ACP- North) Anil Kohli said, “The health department has done their tests.”
