LUDHIANA: Four years after he was attacked by radicals, Shiv Sena Hind president Amit Arora was again attacked by unidentified assailants in sector 39 of Ludhiana in Punjab on Saturday night. However, he escaped unhurt.
Amit Arora - along with his friends including another leader of the same organisation Mani Sheera - was sitting in the latter’s office in Satkartar Car Bazaar. When they were about to come outside office, they heard a gunshot.
The bullet hit the roof of a car.
After hearing the gunshot, everyone rushed out of the office.
Arora said, "Earlier also I was targeted by radicals, but police accused me of stage-managing the attack and lodged me in jail. Today again I am attacked. I want to question police what is the security of Hindu leaders in the city.”
Arora further alleged that he has been receiving threatening calls for the last few days and has also lodged a complaint with Division number 2 police station. The SHO apprehended two suspects who were later released.
Earlier on February 3, 2016, radicals had attacked Arora near Basti Jodhewal area when he was having soup at a stall. That time bullet grazed his neck. But later on June 22, 2016 Ludhiana Police booked Arora, his then gunman and accomplices for "stage-managing the attack on him".
Later in 2018, when police busted a terror module of targeted killings, the arrested accused confessed that they had attacked Hindu outfit leader Arora in 2016.
The Moti Nagar police station has initiated investigation in this matter.
