To her shock, Devinder later learnt that her husband had produced a fake divorce certificate to achieve his mission.

Acting on the complaint of Devinder, Jodhan police have booked Navdeep Singh Kohar, his first wife Manjinder Kaur and his US-based uncle Amarjit Singh Sandhu for playing fraud.
Devinder, who also lives in US, said it was Amarjit who had taken her into confidence to marry Navdeep. They had got married on March 7, 2014. Later, she applied to bring her husband to the United States and would send money to him through Western Union.
She claimed that after coming to the US, Navdeep soon left her and went to live with his uncle. Devinder later realized that Navdeep had used her to get money and secure the green card. She informed the authorities concerned.

Police officials said after probing the allegations, the DSP (Ludhiana rural) found that the accused at the time of getting his marriage registered had produced a fake divorce certificate of his first wife Manjinder Kaur.
They said the investigating officer found that it was Manjinder’s third marriage after two divorces.
Cops said Navdeep’s father told investigators that he didn’t have any information about his son’s divorce with Manjinder. Investigators found that Navdeep had hatched the plan to get to the US with the help of Manjinder. Navdeep had planned to bring her to the United States once he gets the green card.
Police officials said following the probe, the officer found truth in the allegations and recommended legal action against Navdeep, Manjinder and Amarjit Singh.
Jodhan police have meanwhile booked the accused under Sections 420 (cheating), 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 494 (marrying again during lifetime of husband or wife), 465 (forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
Police officials said the accused persons are yet to be arrested and a look-out notice would be issued for the two accused living in the United States. They added that Manjinder hasn’t left Punjab, so she would be arrested soon.
