PATIALA: In separate cases, the city police have seized 25,000 banned tablets and confiscated 32 boxes of illegal liquor.
The cops said that 25,000 tablets of tramadol were seized during a raid in Samana on Wednesday late evening. The tablets, which are banned to be sold at medical shops, were being sold openly.
The cops said that these opioid tablets are to cure drug addicts.

"The tablets were seized from a car near Dhaintal bus stand during a routine checking. As many as 50 packets with 500 tablets in each packet were confiscated. The accused travelling in the car were asked to stop for checking at a police barrier near Dhaintal bus stand. The accused abandoned the car and managed to escape," the cops said.
"The tablets were lying beneath the seats of the car," said Sarabjit Singh who is posted at Sadar Samana police station. He said the accused will be nabbed soon as the raids were on to nab him.
Last month the city police had seized 49,000 Tramadol tablets and arrested three persons.
Meanwhile, City Samana police have recovered 32 boxes of illegal liquor that were being carried in a pick-up van. Similarly, Shambu police have confiscated 24 bottles of illegal liquor; Ghagga police seized 36 bottles of illegal liquor and Patran police recovered 80 litres of lahan and six illegal liquor bottles in two separate raids.
