Patiala: Raped by father, minor gives birth to daughter

PATIALA: A 15-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her father, a migrant labourer from Nepal, has given birth to a girl at a government hospital.
The police have registered a case against the accused father of the rape survivor under sections of the IPC, including rape, criminal intimidation and under Section 6 of POCSO Act.
The girl's father has been working as a migrant labourer from last five years.The police said the accused has been absconding for a long time after the rape survivor got pregnant and the crime came to light before the family and neighbours. The police said the girl was also facing a trauma as she had been remaining in the house from the last few months.
The police said the accused was booked on the complaint of the uncle of the rape survivor after the survivor's mother brought the matter before him.
The police revealed that the family members of the rape survivor had also visited some hospitals for abortion, but the pregnancy was above 21 weeks and doctors refused abortion. The police said the family members were illiterate and brought the matter to the knowledge of the police only after the survivor gave birth to a girl on Friday.
The station house officer said, "A case has been registered and hunt to nab the accused is on. The rape survivor and her daughter are stable."
