JALANDHAR: To mark the
International Mother Language Day on Friday, RSS-affiliate
Vidya Bharti has decided to celebrate mother tongue week from February 21 to 28 and to promote Punjabi in schools being run by
Sarvhitkari Education Society.
Vidya Bharti north zone organising secretary Vijay Nadda on Thursday said all schools and offices of the society in Punjab would use
Punjabi language for communication and administration works. He said work would be preferred to be done in Punjabi in all the schools and offices of the society.
"Staff and students will be encouraged to use Punjabi in general communication," Nadda said. "We would also tell students that they should not have any inferiority complex about their mother tongue Punjabi, rather should take pride in it. Then they can easily learn other languages too," Nadda said. The RSS-affiliated society runs 127 schools and 377 single teacher schools in Punjab.
