Two dead, three injured in road accident in Punjab

Two persons lost their lives while three women were seriously injured in a road accident after two cars collided at Patiala-Chandigarh road. The accident took place near Kauli village of Patiala district on Sunday afternoon between an Alto car and a Swift desire.

PATIALA: Two persons lost their lives while three women were seriously injured in a road accident after two cars collided at Patiala-Chandigarh road. The accident took place near Kauli village of Patiala district on Sunday afternoon between an Alto car and a Swift desire.
The police revealed that both the drivers of the cars had died on the spot while three injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The police added that two of the three injured have sustained injuries following which they were referred to the higher institute and taken to PGI Chandigarh. The police said that the injured have suffered multiple fractures.
The police said that the eyewitness have claimed that an Alto car lost its control and crossed over the divider thus leading to collision with the Swift car coming from opposite side.
The police have identified the deceased as Subash Sachdeva, 65 of Rajpura who was driving Swift car and deceased Rajesh Jindal, 45 an Alto car driver.
Subash was accompanied by his wife Laxmi, 60 in Swift while Rajesh was travelling along with his wife and a 22 year-old daughter in Alto car.
Davinder Singh, assistant sub-inspector said, "We have registered a case under sections of negligence causing death and rash driving at Bahadurgarh police station on the complaint of Diwan Chand Sachdeva, brother of Subash. The dead bodies have been sent for the post-mortem and will be handed over to the families after the post-mortem is conducted. The family members of Rajesh are yet to reach us.”
