MADURAI: A 68-year-old man, who returned from Gujarat, died after complaining of chest pain in an isolation camp at Chinna Udaippu in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as N Muthuramalingam, 68, from Kallurani, Aruppukkottai in Virudhunagar district. He was one among the Tamils, who returned from other states to their native.
Muthuramalingam worked in a snacks making unit in Ahmedabad.
On reaching Madurai he was housed in an isolation camp at Chinna Udaippu with 60 other people. A police officer from Avaniyapuram station said that Muthuramalingam developed chest pain at 3 am on Sunday. Based on an alert from the inmates of the camp, health officials shifted him to Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH), where doctors declared him ‘dead on arrival.’
He was tested negative for Covid-19 and later the body was handed over to his relatives.
