MANGALURU: President of DK district unit of BJP, Sanjeeva Matandoor, on Tuesday launched a political broadside at former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy over his reported statement on the IED scare at Mangaluru International Airport on Monday. With the district in news for all the wrong reasons of late, Kumaraswamy through his statements is striving to use it for political mileage and his intentions behind it must be probed, he said.
Matandoor while demanding that police probe the forces that are striving to create fear psychosis among people of coastal district through such disruptive acts, accused former CM of encouraging elements indulging in the same.
“Kumaraswamy recently released videos of violence in the city in December during CAA/NRC protests and even his statement on the IED scare has sought to undermine the morale of police force,” he said.
As a former CM, Kumaraswamy should have appreciated the way police handled the IED scare without any loss of life and property, Matandoor, also Puttur MLA said. Instead, he chose to criticise the police handling of the situation. "Given the kind of information that Kumaraswamy seems to possess about the Mangaluru violence and his claims on IED scare, he should be subject to brain-mapping test to determine the truth for such utterances,” he noted.
Going a step further, Matandoor said it will also be not out of place to subject Kumaraswamy to a check up at NIMHANS. Kumaraswamy interacting with media in Sringeri on Monday had said he suspected the involvement of police in the IED scare. The state government is striving to use the police to placate a community and stoke passions in sections of society, the former CM had alleged, referring to his Bengaluru video-expose of the violence here.
