UDUPI: The Mangaluru police brought MIA bomb scare accused Aditya Rao, 36, to Udupi on Saturday. They visited several places across the city, including Karnataka Bank, Kunjibettu branch. Aditya reportedly had a safe deposit locker at the bank.
Sources said since he did not have the key, police were forced to break open the locker. The locker contained a few documents and a box.
The box has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination. It is suspected that cyanide is stored in the box, stated an official investigating the case.
There have been reports of a family member mentioning that Aditya wanted to commit suicide by consuming cyanide.
Threat call made from Malpe
Police sources saud after placing the explosive-laden bag near the MIA ticketing counter, Aditya travelled to Malpe. He made a hoax call to the terminal manager that the IndiGo Mangaluru-Bengaluru flight had a bomb in it. Police are searching for the sim card that he had disposed of.
