MUMBAI: A 23-year-old Brazilian was arrested by Customs on Wednesday for smuggling cocaine worth Rs 2.5 crore concealed inside his body.
The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs detained Luiz Fernando Santos Da Silva on suspicion, who arrived on February 17 from Addis Ababa. Based on a specific tip-off, the officials sought court permission to carry out Silva's medical examination.

It was confirmed that there were foreign elements in his body. Silva ejected 80 oval shaped capsules through his rectum naturally. On examining the capsules, officials found 792gm of cocaine, worth Rs 2.4 crore. Silva confessed to smuggling cocaine for 1,000 Brazilian reais, free air travel and a week's paid stay in India.
Silva said the parcel was given to him by Hercules, a Nigerian national from Sao Paulo. He added that he was told he would get a call to deliver the capsules after he reaches India.
