Mumbai: Railway stall manager booked for staffer's death

Nearly a year-and-a-half after the staffer of a food outlet at Churchgate station was electrocuted, GRP has registered a case of negligence against the stall manager. No arrest has been made yet.

MUMBAI: Nearly a year-and-a-half after the staffer of a food outlet at Churchgate station was electrocuted, GRP has registered a case of negligence against the stall manager. No arrest has been made yet.
Debashish Das (22), who hailed from West Bengal, had opened the refrigerator at S C Agarwal tea and snacks stall on the south-end of the station's platform 2 between 12.20pm-1.10pm on October 10, 2018.
He suffered a severe electric shock and was pronounced dead on being taken to hospital.
An autopsy was conducted and his family was informed. Churchgate GRP recorded an accidental death case.
"A probe was initiated. We were awaiting reports from technical experts and the autopsy report. We were verifying if audits were sufficiently carried out from time to time. A case was registered against manager, Narendra Agarwal (47), under section 304 (A) of IPC on March 5," said a police officer. Some more technical reports are awaited, officers said.
