Railways observes Sardar Patel birth anniversary with 'Run for Unity'

To commemorate the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Western Railway observed "National Unity Day" with various events which included administering the Unity Pledge and Run for Unity.

Central Railway general manager Sanjeev Mittal released the balloons and participated in the Run for Unity on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Divas at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai on Thursday.
MUMBAI: To commemorate the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Western Railway observed "National Unity Day" with various events which included administering the Unity Pledge and Run for Unity.
WR additional general manager VK Tripathi flagged off the Run for Unity, which was actively participated by senior officers, staff and sportspersons of WR with a sporting spirit.
The run was flagged off at 6.30am on Thursday from WR headquarters GLO Building at Churchgate.
This route was from WR HQs office via Eros Cinema, Maharshi Karve Road up to Madam Cama Road around Oval Ground and back to WR's GLO office at Churchgate. The national unity day was also observed at all six divisions of WR -- Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Ratlam, Rajkot and Bhavnagar -- with various activities, said chief spokesperson Ravinder Bhakar.
Konkan Railway chairman and managing director Sanjay Gupta administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge and flagged off the Run For Unity for KR officials.
Various activities like Prabhat Pheri, quiz and essay competitions were organised in which directors, executives and staff actively participated. Similar programmes were also organised in Ratnagiri and Karwar Region of KR, officials added.
