NAGPUR: Soulful rendition of songs from the golden era of music had the audience in thrall at a programme titled ‘An Evening in Paris”, organized by Jyeshtha Gandharva Mandal at Arpan Hall of Mor Hindi Bhavan on Sunday.
The programme commenced with the song ‘Aaj ki raat mere dil ki salami le le’, sung by Vivek Joshi. This was followed by ‘Kis liye maine pyar kiya’, sung by Deepa Rapate.
‘Piya bina baasiya’, presented by Archana Bodele, got applause.
The songs were presented by Atul Kedar, Satish Ballal, Deepali Sapre, Sunil Dahikar, Prachi Khadakkar, Priya Gupta, Kavita Khond, Deepak Tambekar, Seema Sonule, Prakash Pande, Shrikant Paithankar, Anant Naik, Milind Kalvit, Arvind Raje, Neelima Mohite, Nayana Gathoo, Dilip Rapate, Vivek Sagdeo and Sanjay Kulkarni.
Entertaining and lip-syncing duets like ‘Dil ki nazar se’ by Satish and Deepali; ‘Woh jab yaad aaye’ by Seema and Prakash; ‘Raat ke humsafar’ by Anant and Prachi and ‘Yeh mausam rangeen sama’ by Milind and Archana got repeated cheerings from the audience.
Other songs like ‘Phir wahi raat hai’ from the movie ‘Ghar’, ‘Rajnigandha phool tumhara’, a retro from ‘Rajnigandha’, ‘Babuji dheere chalna’ from ‘Aar Paar’, ‘Tum se mil ke aisa laga’, a romantic number from ‘Parinda’ and many more were performed well and loved by the audience.
The programme concluded with the title song of ‘An Evening is Paris’, sung beautifully by Anant.
Amit Harkare was the chief guest of the programme in which 27 songs were sung.
Anchor Snehal Tambekar kept the audience engaged by narrating the stories behind the making of songs, at times films, which were interesting. Snehal had many anecdotes to share with the audience about picturization of songs, singers and actors. Snehal’s lucid style of narration won many hearts.
