GREATER NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will challenge the judgment of Allahabad high court related to additional compensation of 64.7% to farmers in the Supreme Court. YEIDA has got the go-ahead from the state government to file a special leave petition before the apex court.
CEO Arun Vir Singh said the legal department of the authority is in touch with the Supreme Court lawyers.
"The petition will be filed on Tuesday or Wednesday. We will challenge the decision given by the high court on May 28 regarding additional compensation to farmers," said Singh.
On May 28, the high court had dubbed YEIDA's demand of 64.7% additional compensation from allottees 'illegal'. A group of 20 allottees who had taken land from the authority along the Yamuna Expressway moved the high court maintaining that the additional demand was made after they had entered into an agreement with the authority.
The demand for extra amount was seen as an arbitrary decision and allottees were able to convince the court to quash the authority's decision.
