Unable to register on Udyam portal, say entrepreneurs
Noida: The micro and small-scale industry operators of Gautam Budh Nagar have taken to social media to voice concerns about a new system of registration as per the orders of the ministry of MSME.
According to the Indian Industries Association (IIA), the new ‘Udyam’ registration, which allows entrepreneurs to get the tag of being an MSME as per a new set of guidelines, has not been operating properly.
They alleged that many aspirants were getting thwarted at the final ‘captcha’ level of registration on the website.
“However, the government has said that our older licenses would be valid till March 2021, but it is a loss for those who wanted to make new registrations now because they are losing out on many land schemes by Yeida launched for micro and small industries,” Kulmani Gupta, president, IIA said.
“Out grievances are not being addressed and the Udyam portal doesn’t work,” said Ruchita Mohatta, an entrepreneur.
“Applied for Udyam registration around five weeks ago. I have not received any update on that yet. Portal asks to check back later,” Prasenjit Pandey, another entrepreneur said.
The MSMEs were asked to re-register themselves on Udyam earlier in July based on a directive from the central government. All MSMEs were asked to re-register themselves with full disclosure of their financial turnovers on the website — udyamregistration.gov.in. Failing to do so, the MSME would lose the various schemes and benefits that they may have been enjoying so far.

Noida and Greater Noida together have nearly 10,000 small and medium scale industries, which offered employment to around 10 lakh people before the pandemic. The major industries in the category in the twin cities are garment export, electronics, medical essentials.
The new process under ‘Udyam Registration’ came to effect from July 1. However, the MSMEs would now have conversion time till March 2021.
