PATNA: The state government in association with Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB) is to conduct the 64th Conference of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) at Bihar Museum here on January 16 and 17.

CM Nitish Kumar would inaugurate the two-day conference, which will be attended by CPCB chairman SP Singh Parihar, principal secretary of ministry of environment, forest and climate change CK Mishra, chairman and secretary members of 28 state pollution boards and pollution control committees from eight union territories.
Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi will also attend the event.
Principal secretary of state environment, forest and climate change department said on Tuesday that environment experts from across the country would prepare a recommendation policy based on the discussions.
Singh at a presser said one inaugural session and seven technical sessions will be held during the two-day event. “Discussion will be held on solid and plastic waste management and biomedical waste on the first day while experts will deliberate on water quality assessment, industrial pollution and air quality action plans in apportioned cities on the second day of the conference,” he said.
BSPCB chairman Ashok Ghosh said a technical session on case study on air quality management would take place on the concluding day. “The state government would throw light on its ambitious ‘Jal Jeevan Hariyali’ scheme. Based on these discussions, a recommendation policy would be prepared by the CPCB to curb pollution,” he said.
Ghosh said Bihar would host the conference for the second time and first time after its bifurcation in 2000. Earlier in 1992, the conference was held in undivided Bihar.
