PATNA: The demand for a CBI probe into the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput echoed in the truncated daylong Monsoon session of Bihar assembly here on Monday.
BJP MLA from Chhatapur and Sushant's first cousin Neeraj Kumar Singh Babloo first raised the demand for a CBI probe into the death of the Patna-born actor. While making allegations that Sushant was 'murdered' and Mumbai Police was not conducting a fair investigation into the case, Babloo urged the state government to hand over the matter to CBI for a fair investigation.

Intervening into Babloo's speech, the leader of opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said his RJD was the first political party to have made a demand for a CBI probe into the actor's death.

"Soon after visiting Sushant's father at his Rajiv Nagar residence in the state capital, I wrote a letter to the CBI for taking up the case. I also requested the CM Nitish Kumar to name the upcoming film city at Rajgir after Sushant. I once again demand that the CM should announce in this house that the film city would be named after Sushant Singh," Tejashwi said while turning towards the CM.
The CM and the deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi were present in the assembly when Babloo, a ruling BJP MLA, and Tejashwi raised the issue of handing over the Sushant case to CBI. However, neither the CM nor the deputy CM made any statement on Sushant's cousin's demand.

Moreover, not a single MLA from the ruling JD(U) and the BJP spoke in favour of Babloo's demand. Surprisingly, the support to Babloo came from the legislators of Congress which is an alliance partner in the Shiv Sena-led government in Maharashtra.
Strongly supporting the BJP MLA Babloo's demand, the Congress legislature party (CLP) leader and former Speaker Sadanand Singh said that the assembly should pass a unanimous resolution, seeking a CBI probe into the death of the actor.
Other Congress MLAs namely Awadhesh Kumar Singh (Wazirganj constituency), Bhawna Jha (Bennipatti) and Amit Kumar (Riga) also spoke in favour of Babloo’s demand and sought a CBI probe into the actor’s death.
Babloo’s wife Nutan Singh, who is a Lok Janshakti Party’s MLC, raised the issue in the state legislative council and pressed for a CBI probe into the actor’s death.
Sushant was found hanging from the ceiling of his Bandra, Mumbai residence on June 14. The Mumbai Police has registered a UD (unnatural death) case into the matter and have, since then, been recording statements of people known to be close to the deceased actor.
But the case took a curious turn a week back after Sushant’s father K K Singh, who resides in Patna, lodged an FIR with Rajiv Nagar police station, accusing Sushant’s girlfriend and actress Rhea Chakraborty and her family members of abetment to suicide.
Now, Patna Police too is probing the case.
