PATNA: At a time when leading opposition parties like RJD and Congress as well as the ally LJP are demanding postponement of the Bihar assembly polls in the wake of exponential rise in the case of Covid-19 in the state in the recent days, the ruling JD(U) has pull out all the stops to make preparations for the forthcoming polls.
Nitish Kumar-led party, as part of its preparation for the polls, has not only lined up a series of virtual meetings in different assembly constituencies up to August 7 when the party chief himself will address a mega virtual rally; but also left behind all other parties including ally BJP in organizing such meetings through the social media platforms.

Assembly elections in the state are due in the month of October-November. Though the Election Commission is yet to announce the schedule for the state polls, all political parties, in their own style, began preparations for the polls even during the lockdown period.
In fact, the BJP was the first to sound bugle for the assembly polls by organizing a grand virtual rally of Union home minister Amit Shah on June 7. Days after Shah’s rally, the JD(U) leaders organized a series of virtual rallies for different divisions of the state. JD(U)’s all the divisional-level rallies were addressed by the party chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and senior party leaders like energy minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Building construction minister Ashok Choudhary and water resources minister Sanjay Kumar Jha.

"After successful completion of its division-level meets, the JD(U) has now been engaged in holding virtual meets of its different cells since July 7. It will continue upto July 15. The party’s national general secretary RCP Singh launched such a virtual meet by addressing a ‘Tuesday Talk’ for the workers on Chhatra JD(U) on July 7," the party’s state general secretary Navin Kumar Arya told TOI on Monday.
"Moreover, RCP Singh will also hold a virtual meet of the party’s all regional in-charges, district presidents, constituency in-charges and state presidents of different cells on July 16," Arya said.
He said all these virtual meets were being held as part of the party’s preparations for the coming polls.
