PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry lieutenant governor Kiran Bedi on Wednesday appealed to people in the Union territory to share information on illegal sale of liquor during the lockdown period with the CBI. They can also share information with Raj Nivas chief grievances officer S Bascarane on WhatsApp (95005 60001).
Bedi said the CBI has commenced an investigation into the illegal sale of liquor during the lockdown period by unknown people in connivance with unknown government officials.

She said police have suspended the licences of 100 shops selling Indian-made foreign liquor, arrack and toddy and registered 236 cases.
Police arrested eight government servants and transferred a few for their involvement in the illegal activity. The deputy commissioner of excise was removed to ensure a fair investigation, she said.
