Puducherry speaker disqualifies Congress MLA Danavelou

PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry legislative assembly speaker V P Sivakolunthu has disqualified Bahour MLA N Danavelou following a complaint lodged by government whip R K R Anantharaman against him for indulging in anti-party activities.
The Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) had earlier suspended Danavelou from the party for anti-party activities.
In an order on Friday, assembly secretary R Munusamy said the speaker had disqualified the MLA and declared Bahour assembly constituency vacant.

Danavelou had levelled corruption charges against chief minister V Narayanasamy, his son and health minister Malladi Krishna Rao.
The PPCC brought the anti-arty activities of Danavelu to the notice of the All India Congress Committee, which issued an instruction to suspend anyone including ministers or elected members or party cadre indulging in anti-party activities.
In the 30-member assembly, the ruling Congress has 14 members. The party has the support of its ally DMK (three) and an independent candidate. On the opposition side, AINRC has seven and AIADMK has four members. There are three BJP leaders nominated as members to the legislative assembly.
