Teen throws hot oil on minor girl in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY: A 19-year-old youth threw hot oil on a 14-year-old girl when she was fast asleep at her house for rejecting his proposal in Puducherry. The youth was arrested and has been granted bail.
Police said the youth, who completed a paramedical course in a private college and on a job hunt, has been harassing the minor girl, a Class IX student, living in the same locality in the outskirts of the town for the past few months.
The girl's parents and the elders in the locality warned the youth to stay away from girl, but he continued to harass the girl. On Sunday, when the girl's father and brother left home for fishing and she and her mother were alone at home, the came to her house carrying a can of hot oil. He spotted her sleeping and threw the oil on her through the window and fled.
The girl woke up screaming in pain as she sustained burn injuries on her face and shoulders. Her mother, with the help of neighbours, admitted her to a private hospital.
