PUDUCHERRY: Six more people, including a nine-year-old boy and two women, tested positive for Covid-19 in Puducherry on Friday.
A 43-year-old woman returned from Chennai to Periyakalapet in Puducherry on May 18. She complained of fever, cold and cough and approached a hospital for treatment. Her swab samples were taken and sent for testing. She left the hospital as she preferred to stay at home.

The test result was declared on Friday which showed she was suffering from Covid-19. Later, she was admitted to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Research Institute for treatment.
A 46-year-old woman from Reddiarpalayam, who visited Pondy Bazaar in Chennai a week ago, tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday. She was admitted to a hospital in Chennai for treatment.
The other four Covid-19 positive patients are - a nine-year-old boy from Villianur, a 25-year-old man from Moogambigar Nagar, a 20-year-old man from Kurumampet and a 34-year-old man from Dharmapuri.
As on Friday, Puducherry reported 38 Covid-19 cases, including five cases from Tamil Nadu. Thirteen of them, including three from Tamil Nadu, recovered and were discharged. Twenty-five patients, including two from Tamil Nadu, are undergoing treatment at different facilities.
Health secretary Prashant Kumar Panda and health and family welfare director S Mohankumar expressed deep concern over the rise in Covid-19 cases after people from other states and countries started returning to Puducherry. The health secretary regretted that contact tracing was more difficult after economic activities resumed and social distancing norms were compromised.
