Two PLFI cadres held in Gumla
Gumla: Two PLFI operatives, including an area commander, were arrested from Tan village under Kuru police station of Gumla on Wednesday. The arrested were identified as area commander Sandeep Bhagat and Sunil Bhagat, both residents of Semardih village of the district.
The duo was involved in threatening the contractor and stopping the Phuljhar canal construction project under Senha police station of the district in order to extract levy from on June 11.
The 11km-long canal repairing project is worth Rs 11 crore.
Lohardaga DSP Parmeshwar Prasad said, “Besides these two PLFI cadres, five others were arrested on June 16 and one on June 25 on charges of threatening and stopping the canal work.”
Lohardaga SP Priyanka Meena had constituted a team led by Prasad which comprised inspector Awadesh Kumar and the OC of Senha police station, Birendra Ekka, to arrest the PLFI operatives involved in the incident.
