Covid-19: 103 test positive, tally 3,150 in Himachal Pradesh

A day after Himachal Pradesh power minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary tested positive for Covid-19, Rajbhawan in Shimla has cancelled all engagements and appointments of governor Bandaru Dattatraya as a precautionary measure for seven days.

SHIMLA: A day after Himachal Pradesh power minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary tested positive for Covid-19, Rajbhawan in Shimla has cancelled all engagements and appointments of governor Bandaru Dattatraya as a precautionary measure for seven days.
Even the BJP state president Suresh Kashyap who had travelled with Chaudhary has also isolated himself and his scheduled meetings have been postponed.
In the state 103 positive cases of Covid-19 were reported on Friday while 89 positive patients have also recovered. The state has total 3,150 positive cases of which 1,156 cases are active, 1,954 positive patients have recovered, 12 have died while 26 have migrated out of state.
On July 30 the cabinet expansion of Chief Jai Ram Thakur-led government had taken place in Shimla and the governor had administered the oath of office and secrecy to Chaudhary and two other ministers. The oath-taking ceremony of new ministers was held at Rajbhawan following social distancing norms and very few people, including hhe chief minister and the cabinet minister beside the officials, were present during the ceremony.
Sources said that the governor is in good health and his personal physician checks him daily. They said that after power minister tested positive, appointments have been cancelled for a week under precautionary measures.
After his personal assistant tested positive for Covid-19, Chaudhary had got himself tested for coronavirus and reports on Thursday revealed that Chaudhary, his two daughters and personal security officer are positive.
BJP state general secretary Trilok Jamwal said that the meetings of the district Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur have been postponed after the BJP state president Suresh Kashyap was home quarantined. Although the corona report of Suresh Kashyap has come negative, he has quarantined himself for the next one week following the instructions of the government, he said, adding that upcoming programmes of the BJP president will be announced later.

Among the positive cases reported on Friday are four from Bilaspur district, 13 from Chamba district, 12 from Kangra district, six from Kullu district, one from Mandi district, eight from Shimla district, 15 from Sirmaur district, 36 from Solan district and eight from Una district.
Positive patients who have recovered on Friday include one from Bilaspur district, 15 from Kangra district, two from Kinnaur district, six from Kullu district, 10 from Mandi district, 13 from Shimla district, 12 from Sirmaur district, 25 from Solan district and five from Una district.
A total of 161,232 persons have been tested for Covid-19 in the state till Friday of which 156,956 persons have tested negative while results of 1,126 samples were awaited. Solan district has a maximum 794 positive cases in the state of which 409 cases are active, Kangra district has the second highest number of 512 positive cases of which 101 are active while Hamirpur district has total 339 positive cases of which 51 are active.
