DHARAMSHALA: Fortis hospital in Kangra town of this district was temporarily closed as a precautionary measure over Covid-19 after a 75-year-old female patient died here, allegedly with the symptoms of virus. The administration has sent the samples of the deceased and other three
patients for testing, results are yet awaited.

Rakesh Prajapati, confirmed TOI that action has been initiated till the confirmation of reports.
“This is a temporary closure to avoid community spread. A 75-year-old female died, but reasons are being investigated” he added.
Aman Solomon, Director at
Fortis Kangra, talking to TOI told that all the OPDs have been suspended and patients have been told to take other appointments.
“The in house patients are safe in their respective wards, they are isolated. We are taking every precaution” he added.
The results of the samples sent for testing were expected by late evening.
This is the second such private hospital facing brunt of Covid-19 scare. Earlier, another famous private hospital ‘Bala Ji’ at Kangra was closed and staff of nearly 200 persons was quarantined including the owner of hospital after a Tibetan who visited this hospital had died and was found positive for
coronavirus later.
Security measures have been tightened in this district from Thursday on wards. After two patients who entered this district from
Punjab in a veggie truck were found positive. Case has also been registered against both. One belongs to
Chamba district of
Himachal Pradesh.
