SURAT: Crime branch sleuths of city police arrested three persons for allegedly murdering Sachin Mishra,
a history-sheeter,
at Pandesara on Friday. Devendra alias Bunty Mishra, 26, Swapnil alias Nandu Rane, 28, and
Mahendra alias Dharmedra Kothari, 27, were nabbed by police from Kadodara on Saturday and a country-made pistol and two knives were recovered from their possession. They had escaped to Kaodadara in the same autorickshaw in which they had come to shoot Sachin to death.
Police investigation revealed that Devendra, a history-sheeter, and Sachin were lodged in Lajpor Central Jail (LCJ) after their arrest in different cases.
“They fought over some issue in the jail and Sachin had thrashed Devendra in the presence of other prisoners. Devendra wanted to take revenge for the thrashing and hence planned the murder,” police said.
After Sachin came out of the jail, Devendra used to visit
Pandesara regularly to locate him. The accused were carrying two knives with them to stab Sachin in case the pistol failed or missed the target. The victim was shot in neck to ensure that he died. Devendra had purchased the country-made pistol from
Prashant Patil.
