leader of reform movement within Dawoodi Bohras, a community of followers of Ismā'īlī branch of Shia Islam, was felicitated at the 16th All World Dawoodi Bohra Conference which concluded in Udaipur on Monday. Bohra Youth Reform Movement celebrated the 50th year of its movement in Udaipur during the three-day conference organized by Central Board of Dawoodi Bohra Community (CBDBC) with the support of Bohra Youth Jamat and Bohra Youth Association of Udaipur.
Zehra Cyclewala was felicitated in the presence of professor Approva Anand, professor Ram Puniyani and over 1,000 Dawoodi Bohra reformists, who had come to attend the conference from various parts of the country and world.
Zehra Cyclewala told TOI, “The main objective of the reform movement, which began in Udaipur 50 years ago, was to achieve independence from some shocking practices. We call it social awakening. I am blessed to have been felicitated at the event. Bohra Youth Reform Movement is the biggest social revolution in the country. We are against traditions like raza (permission), baraat (social boycott) etc. Every individual has a right to express his views.”
