KALYAN: An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Dr
Vijay Surywanshi has been appointed the new commissioner of
Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation on Thursday. Surywanshi succeeds
Govind Bodke, who was the commissioner of the civic body for two years.
Surywanshi was earlier the collector of
Raigad district.
Residents are said to be happy with the new appointment. “It is good that we have got an IAS officer. We now hope that the new commissioner will take decisions by own and administration-related problems within
KDMC will be resolved soon," said
Shrinivas Ghanekar, resident and citizen activist, Kalyan.
Surywanshi is known for several good works during his tenure in Raigad, including his novel idea to rope in doctors to combat the menace of malnutrition in tribal areas by offering them weekend gateways at hotels in those places.
